Humanitarian Projects:
Human Rights, Rule of Law, and Social Development
Torres assumes its corporate citizenship duties as a responsibility to deliver to society more than quality development projects. Instead, we understand we have the obligation to make an effective contribution to build a better and less unequal world. This is what led Torres to launch a division focused on supporting humanitarian projects in areas such as human rights, rule of law, and social development.
Torres has a track record of compassionate success, working hand-in-hand with federal agencies to support troubled nations that are emerging from their ashes (i.e.: Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.). Now, Torres wants to expand its impact by reaching out with humanitarian programs led by organizations such as USAID.
We know that the stronger and more accountable public institutions in the developing world become, the better the chances of their citizens being able to enjoy a dignified life full of opportunities. We want to be part of it.
Empirical evidence shows that the more effective way of strengthening citizenship is by ensuring that everyone has access to basic economic and social rights such as labor, education, and health. This is why we not only support the strengthening of public institutions, but also support the private sector to become competitive and dynamic enough to generate quality and sustainable new jobs.
At Torres, the promotion of human rights is an imperative. In fact, Torres has proven expertise in human rights protection. Our experience supporting this type of initiative allows us to have a clear understanding of the best practices to promote and evaluate humanitarian programs.
Torres has built expertise covering diverse areas such as:
Human Rights
Protection and promotion of Human Rights is an imperative. Our experience supporting this type of initiative allows us to have a clear understanding of the best practices to promote and evaluate humanitarian programs.
Rule of Law
Rule of law is the cornerstone of democracy. Our experience supporting rule of law and law enforcement initiatives throughout the world makes us world-class implementers of this type of initiative.
Institutional Development (Legislative and Judicial bodies
)
Human development needs institutional development to achieve freedom and democracy. This is why Torres excels in its approach of providing the public sector with the key process and administrative tools to bring private sector material goods practice to the public realm.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Follow-up and overview of expected outputs and outcomes are necessary to measure the effectiveness of any project with regard to the use of funds and the achievement of expected impacts. Torres methodologies often meet and exceed the requirements.
Education Policy
A sound and accountable education system is what guarantees future sustainability of reforms. This is the reason why Torres understands the importance of investing in future generations – first for its own merit, but also as an effective strategy to ensure progress and development.
Community Development
Human and social capital are consequences of the construction of healthy and dynamic communities. Torres has developed methodologies for community inclusion, training and development.
Environmental Management
Environmental sustainability is a cornerstone of each Torres intervention. We have earned much recognition for our approaches to spur clean production as a development and competitiveness strategy.
Rural Development
The rural sector generates a significant portion of a developing nation’s GDP. Thus, we approach agri-business and rural development with competitiveness and human development strategies that ensure development of capabilities and access to new technologies based upon international best practices.
