Torres has the capability to provide language and advisory services in more than 190 languages. Torres is the prime contractor providing language services and subject matter expertise to the U.S. DoS, the DOJ, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), DHS, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force, the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the U.S. Special Operations Command, the 1st Infantry Division Training Center at Fort Riley, Kansas, the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL), and several additional government clients. Torres is the only U.S. Government language and advisory services firm that provides diplomatic-level linguists and advisors who must pass exhaustive language examinations and composure and integrity assessments administered by the U.S. Department of State (DoS). DoS skills, certifications, training, and language rating levels exceed those required by all other U.S. Government agencies. Once approved, our linguists and advisors go on to provide capacity building, training, and interpretation and translation services for U.S. diplomats and U.S. executive, legislative and judicial officials, up to and including the President and Vice President of the United States, the Secretaries of State and Defense, U.S. Ambassadors in the Middle East, and members of the U.S. House and Senate. Torres’ individual employees have received numerous awards and recognitions for services provided under both Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). For example, Torres linguists and advisors have earned individual awards for providing emergency medical aid to U.S. soldiers while under attack; sustaining injuries during combat operations; and providing exceptional language and advisory services during high-level conferences, meetings and events involving U.S. leaders including Senior Officers of the U.S. Armed Forces. In one instance, Torres’ Cultural/Religious Advisor was recognized for performing crisis intervention support roles that helped end the hunger strike at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in 2005. In 2009, twelve of Torres’ linguists/language instructors and quality management personnel were awarded among the highest civilian awards by the U.S. Ambassador, Iraq and the current Presidential Administration at JTF-GTMO.
