Torres linguists currently translate written correspondence in more than 37 languages. We have translated an average of 56,000 document pages, including prisoner, detainee and suspect written correspondence such as letters, e-mails and internal coded inmate communications each year during the past three years. Torres performs written correspondence translation for the U.S. BOP; the U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay; the U.S. detention facilities in Bagram and Kandahar, Afghanistan; U.S. military counterterrorism/counternarcotic units throughout the Middle East, Afghanistan and in Central and South America; the U.S. DOJ (including the FBI, BOP and U.S. Marshals Service) at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq; the U.S. DOS’s Regional Security Office (RSO) in Baghdad and International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL).
Torres linguists are all cleared at the Secret and Top Secret levels and hold degrees at the Bachelors or advanced degree levels. Our linguists’ training and cultural backgrounds provide them with the required skills and insight needed to understand the inmate’s or detainee’s intent in order to provide accurate translations. They are also formally trained to correctly deduce vague and unclear communications. In all cases, our linguists remain true to the meaning of the source material when translating written correspondence.
