Torres counterinsurgency (COIN) training focuses on familiarizing U.S. Government and DoD personnel with military activities undertaken to defeat a rebellion or guerilla movement and on rebuilding relationships and infrastructure for the foreign population affected by the insurgency. Torres has trained more than 20,000 troops in COIN who are deploying under Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) or Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) at Fort Riley, Kansas; Fort Polk, Louisiana; the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; and other military installations CONUS and OCONUS. Core areas of instruction include:
Historical Principles and COIN Imperatives
COIN Fundamentals
COIN Targeting: Population Need, Security, and Civil Military Operations (CMO)
Information Operations in COIN
Areas, Structure, Capabilities, Organizations, People, and Events (ASCOPE) Brief
Torres certified COIN instructors hold advanced degrees and are cleared at the Secret and Top Secret Levels. Most of our COIN instructors have also previously served in the U.S. military as Officers or Non-Commissioned Officers.
