Police Officers, Special Agents and Special Operations Personnel among Recent Graduates of the INL-Backed Training Program

More than 40 police, Special Agents and Special Operations personnel from different operational units of the Paraguayan National Police (PNP) have successfully completed training programs carried out by the multi-national firm Torres Advanced Enterprise Solutions (Torres), of Falls Church, Virginia, that were supported by the United States Embassy in Paraguay. The graduates completed two courses designed and taught by Torres, the Basic Police Training and Advanced Criminal Investigation Course and the Basic Prison Guard Training Course. Graduates also included Special Agents of the SENAD, the Paraguayan government counterpart of the U.S. DEA.
The Advanced Criminal Investigation Course included a real-time cyber investigation of a current terrorist suspect which resulted in 255 positive identification and relationship hits. Torres donated a cyber forensics computerized system to the Paraguayan National Police to continue its counter-cybercrime efforts, which encompass human trafficking, illegal narcotics, money laundering, terrorism and kidnapping, Torres also donated a dual-purpose narcotics detection and patrol K-9 from Kansas that will be used by an elite Paraguayan Special Operations unit in counter-narcotics and counter-terrorism operations. The courses lasted a month and were taught by former police and military instructors from the United States, Panama and Argentina.
The graduation ceremony was attended by the Acting U.S. Ambassador to Paraguay, Mr. Hugo F. Rodríguez Jr.; the Commander of the Paraguayan National Police, Mr. Luis Carlos Rojas Ortiz; and the CEO of Torres, Mr. Jerry W. Torres.
