Clandestine Drug Laboratory Investigation and Safety Course Overview

This course is meant to provide students with a detailed understanding of the key areas of expertise required of law and drug enforcement officers during the identification, investigation and decontamination phases with regard to clandestine narcotics lab operations.

Course Curriculum

Day 1 Classes:

  • Welcome; Course Overview, Objectives and Introductions; Opening Remarks
  • Training Module #1: HAZWOPER Overview
  • Training Module #2: Harmonized Hazard Communication
  • Training Module #3: Basic Clandestine Manufacturing
  • Training Module #4: Clandestine Manufacturing Trends
  • Training Module #5: Cocaine Production Methods

Day 2 Classes:

  • Training Module #1: Clandestine Lab Visual Recognition Exercise
  • Training Module #2: Clandestine Lab Hazards
  • Training Module #3: Toxicology
  • Training Module #4: Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
  • Training Module #5: Explosives and Booby Traps
  • Training Module #6: Crime Scene Processing

Day 3 Classes:

  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)/Material Handling Practical Exercises

Day 4 Classes:

  • Crime Scene Processing Module Practical Exercises

Day 5 Classes:

  • Corruption, Integrity and Ethics in Law Enforcement
  • Human Rights in Law Enforcement
  • Practical Exercise and Course Review
  • Final Exam
  • Student/Course Evaluations
  • Graduation
